The ultimate knife for canoe tripping

Exploring the great outdoors is an exciting adventure, but it also comes with its fair share of risks. That's why it's essential to carry the right gear to ensure your safety in the wilderness, and a knife is an essential piece of equipment that you should never leave behind. At Walker Knife Co., I designed our River Knife for the rigorous demands of the whitewater raft guide and shortly discovered that it also surpasses the demands of the most avid canoe tripper.

A knife is one of the most versatile and useful tools you can have on a backcountry canoe trip. It can be used for everything from preparing food to cutting rope, building shelters, and even self-defense in an emergency. But not all knives are created equal, and you need one that's specifically designed for the rigors of the river and the backcountry. That's where Walker Knife Co. comes in.

At Walker Knife Co. I specialize in making knives that are designed for paddlers, making them an excellent fit for backcountry canoe tripping. Here are some reasons why:

  1. Quick and Easy Access: In an emergency situation, every second counts. Walker Knife Co. River Knives are designed to mount easily to the outside of a personal flotation device (PFD), so you can quickly and easily access them in case of an emergency.

  2. High-Quality Stainless Steel: When you're out in the wilderness, your knife is your lifeline. You need a knife that won't rust or corrode, and that will hold a sharp edge. Walker Knife Co. knives are made with high-quality stainless steel that's durable, corrosion-resistant, and holds a sharp edge, ensuring that your knife will always be ready when you need it.

  3. Cool Design: Let's face it; aesthetics matter, even in the wilderness. Walker Knife Co. knives look cool, with a sleek and stylish design that will make you feel like a pro paddler.

  4. Built From Experience: I know what works and what doesn't, and I've used that knowledge to create knives that are specifically designed for paddlers. Every knife that leaves my shop is worthy of accompanying me down the river and I don't take that lightly.

  5. Handmade in Maine: All Walker Knife Co. knives are handmade in Maine, ensuring that each knife is crafted with care and attention to detail.

So, when you're backcountry canoe tripping, a knife is a must-have tool, and a Walker Knife Co. knife is an excellent choice. With its quick and easy access, high-quality stainless steel, cool design, experienced craftsmanship, and handmade quality, a Walker Knife Co. knife is a reliable and stylish tool that you can count on in any wilderness situation.

Unlike other river knives on the market, the Walker Knife Co. River Knife come with the option of a drop point tip as opposed the the standard blunt tip you find on most rescue knives. For canoe trippers, I'd recommend the drop point as it makes the knife a more versatile tool at camp. That said, some people love the safety of a drop point and that's ok too.
