This River Knife is purpose built for whitewater raft guides, whitewater kayakers, swiftwater rescue technicians, canoe trippers and anyone participating in moving water scenarios. If there's rope and current involved you should always have a knife!
Constructed with indestructible G10 handle scales, rough finished for superior grip even when wet, the handle is ergonomic and indexes easily. A single finger groove increases retention in the hand during high stress situations. The handle scales are ultra thin reducing the bulk of the knife when worn on a PFD. Lanyard hole included.
The knife comes standard as a drop point style blade. You may request a conversion to the classic safety blunt tip featured on most river knives at no additional charge.
The knife comes ready to shoulder mount with an adjustable retention sheath. This set up makes this tool work with almost any PFD on the market. As well, we all know that 99% of PFD lash tabs are in horrible locations. One of the best locations to carry a knife is on the shoulder strap of your PFD.
The blade steel is high quality and professionally heat treated 440C stainless steel. It requires little maintenance though the more you care for it the longer it will last you. The steel is .156” thick making this an extremely rugged knife while the flat grind on the blade creates an excellent profile behind the cutting edge allowing it to perform any task. It's built to last decades.
The blade is 3.25” when in the drop point configuration and 3” when converted to safety blunt. This meets Maine IF&W regulations for whitewater guides in both configurations.
A lash tab clip will be available as an accessory option that fits all standard PFD tabs.
Serrated edge add on available when you place your order.
Two different color strands of 550 paracord included for lacing the shoulder mount. Instructions provided as well.
Every knife and sheath is hand made in my small shop in Maine with care. This is your do-all multi day adventure tool. River runner by day, camp chef by night.
You’re going to love it.
*Serrated edges are hand filed, as such there is a $15 dollar add-on for serrated
On that note - A straight edge always cuts better than a serrated edge, when it's kept sharp. If you're not the type of person to sharpen your blade when it shows signs of use, I would recommend a serrated edge. A serrated edge will cut well long after the knife is dull. That said, 440C that's been properly heat treated, like you're purchasing here, will hold a good sharp edge for a long time.
This knife meets Maine IF&W requirements for Registered Whitewater Guides.
You are purchasing the knife / sheath color combination pictured here. All of my knives are hand made and may vary slightly from one to the other. The photos of the knife only are generic product photos.
